Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary of Rigaud

Except during the winter (when the road is not plowed), the Sanctuary grounds are always open. However, all activities at the Sanctuary (Eucharistic celebrations, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, praying the Rosary, access to the gift shop, etc.) are offered only during the Sanctuary’s season, which is from the end of May to the end of September.

In 1874 ...

... situated at the foot of the Rigaud mountain, amidst the beauty of nature, Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary became a place of pilgrimage under the ministry of the Clerics of St-Viateur.

Supported by a team of staff and volunteers, the priests and brothers assist the faithful through individual spiritual direction, faith education and proclamation of the Gospel message through dynamic liturgical celebrations.

Bernadette Soubirous

St. Bernadette Soubirous chosen by Our Lady of Lourdes

18 June 2019

Little Bernadette had become part of a great event in human history, yet at the time, very few could appreciate the significance of what was taking place.

At the grotto of Massabielle, a place often used to burn garbage on the outskirts of the little town of Lourdes, France, a beautiful Lady appeared 18 times to a young peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous.

Describing the first visit, Bernadette said, “I beheld within the grotto a glittering cloud of gold; and almost simultaneously there appeared before my dazzled eyes at the edge of the opening just over the bush, a Lady both young and beautiful, beautiful beyond description. She gazed tenderly at me, smiled and bade me come nearer, as if she had been my mother. The sense of fear had vanished …”

Father Louis Querbes, founder of the Clerics of St-Viateur

When the Lord cast his seeds on the life of Louis Querbes he found good soil.

Father Louis produced a harvest many times more than a hundredfold and his spiritual descendants, the priests, brothers and lay associates of the Clerics of St-Viateur, are still producing good fruit.

It is wonderful to see what God does through those who give their lives to Christ.

Annonciation

Thank you Mary

20 June 2017

There is certain knowledge of God buried deep within each of us, as deep and real as our need for happiness. The road of life challenges our hearts long before it tests our wills. Every day we are faced with choices that lead to a destination that is either awful or awesome. These are choices we either accept with hope or flee from in terror.

Mary knows we are born with broken hearts into a world raging with strife. Our Lady wants nothing for herself but everything for her children. She brings us to Jesus that He might protect us and bind our wounds and that we might choose to walk with Him. Thank you Mary!

MERCY, the KING’S Priceless Treasure

15 February 2017

A short story for families and children of all ages.

There once was a King who lived high atop a mountain in a castle so beautiful that none could match its splendor. The castle shone like a diamond and no matter how far away in the kingdom one was, the sparkling light from the mountain could always be seen. The kingdom was lush with fertile valleys, meadows, vineyards and orchards which produced, by the work of human hands, nourishment for those who lived there. (…)
